Meenakshi Raghavan, an 82-year-old Kalaripayattu master and Padma Shri awardee, is a living embodiment of Kerala’s ancient martial art. With over seven decades of experience, she has become a respected figure in the world of Kalaripayattu, a practice known for its fluid movements, discipline, and deep cultural significance. Meenakshi, also affectionately known as *Meenakshi Amma*, has dedicated her life to preserving and promoting this art form, which is considered one of the oldest martial arts in the world.

Through her teachings, she highlights how Kalaripayattu strengthens both the body and the mind, making it particularly useful for women in situations of danger. Meenakshi’s unwavering passion and dedication to the martial art have earned her numerous accolades, including the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2017, in recognition of her contributions to preserving India’s cultural heritage.

Her work continues to inspire a new generation of martial artists, and her efforts to keep Kalaripayattu alive underscore its importance in maintaining the cultural identity of Kerala.
