Prakriti Dutta is an internationally acclaimed Dhrupad singer, performer, actor, and composer with a deep commitment to preserving and expanding the rich traditions of classical Indian music. After earning first position in her M.A. from Rabindra Bharati University, India, and later obtaining an MSc in Music in the Community from the University of Edinburgh, Prakriti honed her skills as a music therapist and community musician. Under the guidance of Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar in his Dhrupad gurukul in Mumbai, she perfected her craft in Dhrupad, one of the oldest forms of Indian classical music.
Prakriti recently founded “Sound Space,” a performing arts company and amphitheater in Kolkata dedicated to promoting creative minds and arts through sound, movement, and artistic expression. Dividing her time between Kolkata and London, she also collaborates with the London-based music theater company Opera Circus in their production *Naciketa*, blending ancient Indian philosophy with modern music.
Her work explores the profound connection between sound, vibration, and human emotion, drawing from ancient Indian philosophies and modern neurophysiological theories. Through her performances, Prakriti demonstrates the timeless power of sound and music to influence and resonate with the human experience on a deep, biological level.
