Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is an Academy Award-winning Pakistani-Canadian filmmaker, journalist, and activist, known for her impactful work in documentary filmmaking. She has directed and produced over 14 films for major networks like HBO, PBS, and Channel 4, shedding light on global issues such as gender inequality, human rights abuses, and extremism. Notable works include *Children of the Taliban*, *The Lost Generation*, and *A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness*, the latter of which won her one of her two Oscars. In 2022, she made history by being announced as one of the directors for an upcoming *Star Wars* film.

Obaid-Chinoy’s films often focus on marginalized communities, especially women and refugees, amplifying their voices and advocating for societal change. Her storytelling has earned her numerous accolades, including six Emmy Awards.
