After pursuing higher education in the United States, she embarked on a remarkable journey in the world of Hindi cinema, making her debut in the acclaimed film Ek Baar Phir in 1979. With a repertoire of over 60 films, including memorable performances in classics like Mirch Masala and Main Zinda Hoon, Deepti has established herself as a luminary in Indian cinema.

Beyond her stellar acting career, Deepti is a multifaceted artist with diverse talents. She has ventured into writing and directing, leaving an indelible mark with projects such as the TV serial Thodasa Aasmaan and the film Do Paise Ki Dhoop, Chaar Aane Ki Baarish. Her literary prowess shines through in her poetry collections, including Lamha-Lamha and Black Wind and Other Poems, showcasing her depth of expression.

Deepti’s commitment to social causes is evident through her role as the founder of the Vinod Pandit Charitable Trust, dedicated to empowering the education of the girl child.
