About Kiran Rao:

A celebrated figure in Indian cinema, has left an indelible mark as a producer, director, and screenwriter. Beginning her career as an assistant director on iconic films like Lagaan and Monsoon Wedding, she quickly rose to prominence. Kiran’s production credits include the box-office hit Delhi Belly and the acclaimed Taare Zameen Par. In 2011, she scripted and directed the atmospheric drama Dhobi Ghat, earning critical acclaim for her portrayal of Mumbai’s nuances. Beyond filmmaking, Kiran co-founded Paani Foundation, dedicated to combating drought in Maharashtra, and serves on the board of the Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image. With numerous accolades and ongoing projects, Kiran continues to shape the landscape of Indian cinema.
