About d’bi.young anitafrika :

d’bi.young anitafrika, affectionately known as d’bi., is an internationally acclaimed Jamaican dubpoet, monodramatist, and educator. She made a significant impact on the Canadian theatre scene in 2001 with her performance in ‘da kink in my hair,’ which toured globally, including at London’s Hackney Empire Theatre. d’bi. has penned eight plays, including the award-winning ‘sankofa trilogy: blood.claat, benu, and word! sound! powah!’ Her innovative Biomyth Sorplusi Method, aiding artists in developing personal integrity in their work, is practiced in over eight countries. She founded the Watah Theatre in Toronto and the Anitafrika Retreat Centre in Jamaica, fostering creativity and social justice. d’bi.’s work has been showcased at venues such as London’s Free Word Centre, Havana’s Teatro Nacional, and Kingston Jamaica’s Edna Manley College. Her accolades include the Ontario Premier’s Award for Excellence in the Arts. Through her art and initiatives, d’bi. continues to inspire and empower globally.
