About Jennifer Broutin Farah

Jennifer Broutin Farah

SproutsIO Co-founder and CEO

Jennifer Broutin Farah is the Co-founder and CEO of SproutsIO, where she leads the development of cutting-edge technologies that transform how people grow and interact with food. With a lifelong passion for gardening, Jennifer’s journey began in the suburbs of Detroit, where she developed a deep connection to the process of growing fruits and vegetables. This early experience shaped her belief that small-scale, high-leverage solutions can revolutionize the food system by enabling individuals to grow their own fresh, flavorful produce at home.

Through SproutsIO, Jennifer introduces the concept of “personal produce” using innovative systems like smart LED lighting, environmental sensors, and hybrid hydro-culture methods, all designed to make soil-free, homegrown food accessible to everyone. Her goal is to reconnect people with their food, improving both taste and nutrition while addressing inefficiencies in the global food supply chain.

Jennifer holds an M.S. in Media Arts and Sciences from the MIT Media Lab, an M.S. in Advanced Architecture Design from Columbia University, and a BArch from the University of Miami. She has taught at prestigious institutions such as Columbia University and Pratt Institute and continues to lecture internationally. Recognized for her innovation, Jennifer has been named an Innovation Fellow by Wired Magazine, a Tech Hero by Glamour Magazine, a finalist for the Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards, and is an INK Fellow.
