Dr. P. Raghu Ram is one of South Asia’s most prominent breast cancer surgeons, recognized for his contributions to medical education and healthcare reform. In 2015, he was awarded the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honors, by the President of India, making him the youngest surgeon from South India to receive the award. His exemplary work continued to be recognized in 2016 when he was conferred with the prestigious Dr. B.C. Roy National Award, also presented by the President of India, for his “Outstanding Service for Socio-Medical Relief.” This distinction further solidified his reputation as one of the youngest doctors from the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to receive such recognition.

Dr. Raghu Ram has been instrumental in advancing breast healthcare in India, particularly through initiatives like the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation, which he founded to raise awareness and provide early detection services for breast cancer across the country. His efforts have transformed breast cancer screening practices in rural and urban areas, significantly improving patient outcomes.
