About Nina Tandon

Nina Tandon

EpiBone CEO and Co-Founder

Nina Tandon is the CEO and co-founder of EpiBone, the world’s first company growing living human bones for skeletal reconstruction. She holds a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the Cooper Union, a Master’s in Bioelectrical Engineering from MIT, a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, and an MBA from Columbia University. Her PhD research focused on electrical signaling in tissue engineering, and she has experience working with cardiac, skin, bone, and neural tissue.

Nina’s early career in telecom at Avaya Labs transitioned into biomedical engineering via a Fulbright Scholarship in Italy, where she worked on an electronic nose used to detect lung cancer. She has been named one of the 100 Most Creative People in Business by Fast Company, a Crain’s 40 Under 40, and a World Economic Forum Tech Pioneer.

At EpiBone, Nina leads a team of talented scientists and engineers dedicated to transforming regenerative medicine by providing patients with personalized skeletal treatments that promote healing and improve quality of life. Their innovative technology uses adult stem cells to grow personalized bone tissue, potentially revolutionizing orthopedic surgery.

Nina is also an advocate for diversity and inclusion in STEM fields and a frequent lecturer at Columbia University and MIT. She regularly speaks on regenerative medicine, biotech entrepreneurship, and healthcare innovation.
